A Weekend in Acadia National Park

Last week I spent 2 days in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for a quick getaway. I already can’t wait to go back – it was so gorgeous!! On the first day we did an easy walk/hike along the ocean and it was so gorgeous, it took a couple of hours to do the whole thing there and back and was a great relaxing way to see a lot of the park. After that, we walked down to the beach and went back into Bar Harbor for dinner, ice cream, and shopping. At around 11 pm we started to make our way up Cadillac Mountain in order to get a good view of the stars. Can I just say it was breathtaking!!! We only stayed up there for 30 minutes or so because it had gotten very cold, but it was one of the best things we did during our short stay!

The next morning we woke up bright and early at 4:10 AM to catch the sunrise, and make our way back up Cadillac Mountain to see it (you can drive up!). Despite waking up in the early morning when it was still dark, this was a great decision as the sunrise was so beautiful coming up over the mountains and harbor below!! After going back to the hotel to take a much needed nap, we headed back to the park to do a quick hike before getting a late lunch in Bar Harbor and starting the drive back home. Overall, I cannot wait to go back to see more of what this beautiful place has to offer!

Where We Stayed

We stayed in Bar Harbor at the West Street Hotel; it was right across the street from the harbor and had gorgeous views! The hotel has a pool as well as many amenities for guests on each floor. It was also a short walk to many coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping!

Where We Ate

Stewman’s Lobster Pound: Right on the water with views of the Harbor and the option to sit inside or on the deck, they had a huge selection of seafood along with “land food” for those who don’t love seafood (like me haha!).

Ben and Bill’s Chocolate Emporium: A great ice cream parlor and traditional candy shop with homemade everything! Definitely try the saltwater taffy, you can choose your own box and it was delicious!

Choco-Latte Café: Where we ate breakfast! They had great homemade bagels and sandwiches, perfect before a day in Acadia!

Downeast Deli: We got lunch here twice! They had a great selection of sandwiches including everything from Ham and Cheese to Lobster Rolls. There was nowhere to sit inside, but it was perfect to grab a quick on the go lunch!

If you’ve been to Bar Harbor and Acadia please leave your recommendations in the comments! 🙂

The cutest candy and ice cream shop!
